Default Getting Started

Welcome to Hajinc!

We're glad to have you here. The purpose of this guide is to give you a bit of a feel for the game.

A good place to "Learn the ropes" to Hajinc is to join the forum. There are many contests and giveaways out there, and people are happy to answer any questions that you have. Remember to polite and respectful to other members. Ammit, the owner and mind behind Hajinc, hangs out on the forum so it is one of the best places to learn about the new, exciting things going on with Hajinc, and also the best source for game information. Plus there are pony pets, and who doesn't love pony pets? (pony pets are currently on hold with the upgrade of the forum)

You start out the game with 20,000 Hajibucks's, or HB's. You should plan on spending, at the most, 10,000 of those HB's to buy yourself some horses. There's a good chance that it'll take your ponies/horses a few weeks to begin to earn you Hajibucks in the showing ring, so set some aside.

There are several ways to aquire horses in Hajinc. You can create your own horse or pony for 2500 hbs. Since it's almost impossible to buy amazingly good horses right away, these horses are your "base" horses and with training and showing, they have nearly unlimited potential. There is no real difference between a horse and a pony, except that one is bigger than the other one. A horse is created with a random ammount of showing and breeding ability, so you never know what you are going to get.

You may find horses for sale for less than 2500 hbs, but look them over carefully. How are they doing well at showing? Have they been shown consistantly? Are they switching between hunter and jumper frequently? If they've done pretty well at showing, or if they haven't been shown very often they might be a good buy. However, if a horse has been switched in disiplines constantly, or are still not good showers at over two month's age in real life you should probably pass.

The next place to find horses is at our weekly public auction. Held each weekend you can find some very good bargains here, just remember to follow the basic buying guidelines. If you have upgraded your account there is also the weekly private auction. Horses in the private auction have to pass a form of testing before they are allowed to be entered so this is were the upgraded stables buy and sell their horses.

Once you have purchased your horse, do not forget to set its discipline. You can find the buttons to do so on your horses page in the control panel. Your horse is automatically set to hunter, so if you wish it to show and train as a jumper you need to change this. When entering a show you will only see the classes for the discipline that the horse has been set to.

Hajinc Years
A hajinc year is 2 months in real life. The new years occur as follows;
Jan 1st
March 1st
May 1st
July 1st
September 1st
Novemeber 1st

Breeding
Breeding season occurs in the first two weeks of each new hajinc year.
Day One is for Admin/Moderators breeding only
Day Two is for Upgraded members
Day Three breeding is opened to all members

During breeding season you are able to put your mares and stallions up for public breeding use.

Stallion Choice When breeding it is advisable to only breed to stallions that are A or Star papered. The ONLY time you should breed to a Showable Only papered stallion is if you are trying to breed a BAD horse.
There are stallions up for public use that are not papered. It is recommended that you only use those stallions that are put up by known and trusted members of HAJINC. Hang around the forums or look through peoples accounts do not breed your mare to an unpapered stallion unless you think you can trust the stallion owner.

Hajinc Rescue
When horse's are yumyumed out of the game they are first run by a type of testing panel.
If the horses are deemed worthy of being saved then Hajinc Rescue steps in. Hajinc Rescue collects all those horses that have potential and then puts them in the public auction for one more chance.
If you are looking for a guaranteed show horse buy a Hajinc Rescue gelding or spayed mare. These will be your future money earners.
If you are after a good broodmare or star stallion then purchase a Hajinc Rescue stallion.
It is also a good idea to keep an eye on the Hajinc Resue stable. There are three barns within this stable, the Primary Barn (for show stock), the Breeding Barn and the Best of the Best barn.
Take note of the Best of the Best id numbers that interest you and watch for them to appear in the public auction. Be warned though bidding will be fierce.

Training
You can train your horses once a week, every week. Training resets every Saturday. When you train your horse you will notice either a J or an H next to its name. This shows you what discipline the horse has been set to, and is an easy way of remembering which of your horses trains in what. Remember to make sure that your horses are set to the right discipline however!

And here is the part I cannot stress enough: DO NOT SWITCH AROUND YOUR HORSES' TRAINING/DISCILINE. A one time switch from, say, hunters to jumpers will not affect a horse too badly, especially if that switch happens while they're being broken. HOWEVER being switched back and forth will confuse the poor horse and poorly affect its invisible stats. Horses who have swtiched back and forth between the two training styles will tend to 'lag behind' and not show very well for their level.

Horses do not benefit from training breaks at all. Make sure you train them each and every week. Also, do not forget to train your horses before you enter them in shows. If you train them after they're entered they will not recieve that training benefit in the show they are already entered in.

Showing
Entering shows is one of the main aspects of the game. To enter a show you go to your members page and click on the enter a class button. If you ever want to scratch a horse, you can do so by going to the My Stable>Your Entries menu found in the game.

Shows run at approximently 1 PM Eastern time on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Every Saturday after shows have run horses' are re-evaluated and may be placed in higher levels. Just because a horse has been leveled up does not mean that it is ready for that level however. They may need more training to be competative at that level. It is possible for some horses to never be competative at their level. Not every horse can handle Hajinc.

If you're horse is doing well by all means, show him twice a week. If your horse has not been showing well, consider giving them a break from showing. It may be that they need a bit more training to be competative at their level.

Horses will earn money and points in shows depending on how they place. Money and points earned are different for every show level. While the higher level shows are more expensive to enter, they will pay out better than the lower level shows.

Do not be fooled by your horses' early scores! For the first month your horses' scores are more of a random thing than an actaul indication of ability. A horse who scores a 7 in his first show may turn out to be a champion while one who scores 50 in his first show may turn into nothing. A score of approximately 25 or lower the first time out is usually a mark of consistancy. It doesn't guarantee it, but it's more likely in a horse who scores lower first time. Likey, but not guarenteed.

Selling
If you decided that you no longer want your horse, there are several ways to sell him.

If your horse isn't much of anything you can sell him to the Fujiyama Super Yum Yum Corperation for 1000HB if he's been shown at least 4 times and is over a month old (in RL). Horses who have been sold to the FSYYC pass out of the game unless they are rescued by the Hajinc Rescue. To sell a horse to FSYY you need to open the horses page up and go to the Control Panel. There is a link on the control panel titled Sell to FSYYC that will sell him to the FSYYC. Once you've clicked on this link you are asked to confirm that you wish to sell your horse to FSYCC. Make sure you are certain before reclicking on Sell to FSYCC. There is no way to get your horse back if you sell him to the FSYYC. If the horse is less than a month old you may want to hold on to it and see how thye go once you have trained the horse more.

If you want to sell your horse to someone else, the easiest is to put it up for public sale. If you are unsure of what the horse is worth, look at what similar horses on the salespage are selling for, or ask on the forum for assistance. Don't be discouraged if your horse doesn't sell right away. Try advertising that they're for sale on the Forum. Or if you don't mind the chance that the horse could go to FSYYC you can enter them in the weekly public aution. If you are an upgraded member you can enter them in the weekly private auction where you are able to place a starting price on the horse and the horses are not sold to FSYYC.

When entering the auction (either private or public) horses can be entered from Monday at 6am PST. Bidding starts friday at 6am EST and closes on Sunday 6pm EST. You can remove a horse from the auction prior to the start of the auction. Once it has started you will not be able to remove them from either auction. Players are not the only ones bidding in the public auction, the FSYYC is there as well. They will bid on and buy every horse who doesn't have a bid of at least 1,500HB on them, so don't say that you haven't been warned! Horses they buy will pass from the game. The auction is large and it's almost impossible for everyone to look at every horse. If your horse is good you should try advertising him in the forum before the auction so that people know he is in there.

Color Genetics
Color does not count for anything in the showing world at all, and is simply a decorative feature. However, it adds a bit of fun to the game to try and breed for specific colors as well as excellence.

Money
Aside from showing, there are several ways to make money.

Selling horses can be a good way to make money. For more on that, check the selling section of this article.

Saturday is the day when you can collect from the bank again. You get 5000hb's if you are a basic member, and $6000 or $8000 deposited automatically if you're a lvl 1 or lvl 2 member.

If you're persuasive, you can also earn some extra money using a referral program. There are banners to use for this that can pasted onto your own personal site, or you can use a straight html link for forums and chat rooms. These banners can be found in the game by clicking on the referral programe link on the menu. But be careful and make sure anywhere you advertise allows advertising and you are within complience of the rules. You will receieve $100 hajibucks everytime a unique ISP address clicks your link.

Check the Forums for any contests that are running. These can be good opportunities to get money and horses.

During the breeding season you can make money by putting either a stallion or mare up for public breeding. A stallion who has tested high in breeding or a mare who has produced good offspring can bring in some good money, but don't be suprised if low testing stallions and unproven mares don't bring in much.

Upgrades
You can find the page to upgrade in your My Stable menu. Currently there are two upgrades offered and four addons you can buy. Leveled upgrades will require renewal either every six months or year. If you want to see what upgrades are on the way the forum is the place to be.

Trophies
Trophies are given out by the Ammit in several catagories. At the end of each Hajinc year the top 10 horses or owners will get trophies for their accomplishments in that Hajinc year. You can find the current leaders on the leader board found in the Community menu of the game.

Trophies have also been given out by the Ammit on special occasions. For example, if you attended the chat party for Hajinc's 1000th member you recieved a trophy.

Pictures
You are allowed to add change your horse's picture if you are an upgraded member
