A "proper" appaloosa is one that exhibits at least some sort of appaloosa markings(Lp?). A "proper" paint is one that has either splash, tobanio, or frame. So, what exactly is a "properly marked" pintaloosa? Do they have to have both appy and paint markings, or would just one set of either pattern do?

Well its not really a Pinta+Loosa unless its 'painted' and 'spotted.'
![]() I would say a proper pintaloosa would have at least one paint pattern (preferably at least 2) and be at least Lplp.

Yes, I agree that a pintaloosa should have appy and paint characteristics to be "proper". So, Lp?, and either frame, splash, or tobiano. Much kudos to pinta breeders, though, as just dealing with Lp in the appy breed is apt to drive me bonkers at times.
