Today both Hajinc and shoco are getting a profit tracker. YA!

Profit will show up on the horses page, your personal stable and in the horse search. You can also order your stable and search by earned profit. Profit is reconfigured every night after the shows run. Profit will only look at entry fees and results owned by the current owner. So if a horse is sold that night his profit is wiped clean. He will start a new profit record with his new owner.

I love this! Of course a bunch of my 2 year olds are in the red. Is that bad? Was getting scores on them for possible future yum yum reasons if they needed it.

Awesomesauce! So totally worth the downtime earlier  Who'da thought that my best earner was an un-spayed mare (I was actually suspecting this one), and that her foal had already out-earned all of my other Local-level mares (there's several), combined!
Thanks a bunch Ammit - you know we love you! (And are soo totally dependent on you...)

Major coolness. One question.

Does the profit wipe clean each new year or is it total for as long as you have owned them?

This feature is really cool, I checked my shoco horses and almost half of them are in the red :( I am just going to have to find their right class to gain in. Thanks again it is really helpful

Based on my shoco horses I would say it is the total for as long as you've had the horse.

So, if one has a gelding (or spayed mare), and said horse is of a decent age (like over 6) and is a large loser, this would be a good candidate for yum yumming? I'm presuming, tho', that this cannot really be used as a way of evaluating young stock.

Why would you keep a horse who can't make you any money? It is the ONLY way to evaluate show stock.

Thanks Ammit! And I spotted a broodie who is obviously kept in a barn that is auto-entered, she has lost about 15000 hbs LOL

Now to go and track her down ......

Ammit, with regards to yearlings and two year olds, is it possible that you can have a horse in the negative that will in fact be a profitable horse with training? I have a few young horses that are in the negative, and I'm wondering if I should yum them, or just let them sit until they receive more training.

Ammit
08-07-2008, 04:13 PM
People don't show their two year olds for a reason.

LadyHawke
08-07-2008, 04:17 PM
Because a 2yo would not have the training that an older horse would, and might not have a chance to be profitable, that's why I presumed the same standards wouldn't be as applicable to a young horse as to an older horse.

For example, this yearling (http://www.hajinc.com/horse.php?horseid=241100) is obviously in a barn that gets auto-entered, and I forget to take him out. With no training behind him, he's likely to rack up a lot of losses, if he keeps getting entered, which would not necessarily be a true indication of his profitability, is my thinking...

On the older horses, I'm on my knees thanking you--I knew I had some deadwood that needed culling, and this just made that job a heck of a lot easier, especially in the larger account. I'm just trying to figure out how much flexibility young horses have within this.

This is so totally great. I already *knew* which of my horses haven't been doing so great, but most of the high level ones I have I have been showing hoping they will slide down... :smad:

Thanks so much for another awesome feature! :ssmile:

Another thought. What range do you consider culling for a 3 yr old.. -$1 or -$100, $1000. I know a negative # is a loss, but could a horse make it up the next show or would they stay bad?

So if a horse is sold that night his profit is wiped clean. He will start a new profit record with his new owner.

So, does this mean that when or if we merge our stable with the another will the profit change? In other word is the profit tracker for that particular stable or for the owner and all their stables?

BaileyH
08-08-2008, 11:16 AM
so if they are 3 and yonger no shows. right?

If you merge a stable the horses that are moved get sold and get wiped clean. It only calculates profit for when that account showed that horse.

Gotcha, So I can hold on to my horses in my other accounts instead of selling them and start over with them when they are moved.
